Pennsylvania is a State that has been encouraging and giving a positive impetus to higher education. There are many Universities and Colleges operating as not-for-profit institutions. For students who wish to pursue higher education in Pennsylvania, there are numerous options. Here you can find a total of 413 colleges out of which associate’s degree is offered by at least 182 colleges.
At Philadelphia, at least135 schools offer bachelor’s degree and 108 colleges offer advanced degrees. This State has many private as well as public universities. Some of the popular private schools here include Villanova, Swarthmore and Carnegie Mellon and the University of Pennsylvania is an Ivy League School.
Pennsylvania State University was originally known as the Pennsylvania State Agricultural College is in existence since 1855. Today this university educates around 40,000 students and is the largest institution in Pennsylvania. Over 200 programs are offered by eleven colleges in Penn State.
Temple University in Philadelphia educates around 33,000 students and is one of the top Universities in this State. This university the 6th biggest professional degree providers and is the 26th largest in the country. This university has on offer around 108 master’s degrees, 125 under grad degrees, 8 professional degrees and 52 doctoral degrees. There are over 17 colleges and schools inside this University including the College of Engineering, College of Science & Technology, Beasley School of Law, College of Liberal Arts and Fox School of Business & Management.
University of Pittsburgh is the oldest educational institute in the country. This University had its humble beginnings in a log cabin. Founded in the year 1787, today it is one of the top colleges in Pennsylvania. This school is leader in education and pioneer in research. The university features at least sixteen graduates and under graduate schools including the School of Education, School of Engineering and the Katz School of Business.
Founded by Benjamin Franklin, the University of Pennsylvania is among the top universities and colleges. This university is located in Philadelphia and is one among the prestigious Ivy League Schools. This school is popular for being consistently ranked among the top ten universities in America. Even the individual schools are ranked high in their fields. For instance, the School of Nursing and the Wharton School of Business are ranked among the top three in their respective fields. Similarly, six other schools feature in the top ten group. This university educates around 20,000 students. Their admission requirements are quite strict and the university offers around 120 degree programs.
Drexel University was founded by Anthony Drexel, the philanthropist in the year 1891. This University is situated in downtown Philadelphia and offers around 21 doctoral programs, 77 masters program and 70 undergraduate programs. Philadelphia enjoys the services of a technology leader in the field of healthcare education through the strategic merger between the Hahnemann University and Drexel in the year 2002. Drexel offers a variety of degree programs for students including pre-law, pre-med, engineering and business.
