Good news always brings joy to the people. However, there are times when the good news might leave few people in a confused state. Well, the Washington teachers are facing a very similar situation as of now.

The Washington Teachers union announced on Wednesday that there would be an increase in the salaries of the teachers according to the new contract. However, this good news was also combined with news which is not necessarily good for them. The new contract also states that the authorities now have been given the power to remove any Washington teacher from the system at any stage purely on the basis of their effectiveness. According to the earlier contract the authority was given the power to move the teachers out on the basis of their seniority.

One of the many reasons why the effectiveness of the teachers has suddenly come under the limelight in Washington is mainly because most of the schools here are not performing upto their standards and hence many experts as well as other members of the educational authority have raised their eyebrows towards the effectiveness and the standard of the teaching staff. The new contract means that the Washington teachers would now have to make sure that they cannot relax at any point of time and they should teach the students in the best possible manner.

According to many experts, this new contract makes much more sense as compared to the old contract. Most of them believe that a teacher has to perform to the best of his/her abilities. A teacher’s performance has to be studied on the basis of the performance of the students. After all a teacher has to take up the responsibility if most of the students in the classroom fail to perform during their examinations.

Most of the teachers might believe that this new contract has made their life difficult. If they look at it closely enough, they will find that it is not so. The contract also ensures that the teachers are going to get paid much more than what they were as per the old contract. This is a kind of motivation which should be provided to the teaching staff. Another highlight of this contract is the fact that four private firms have come forward and agreed that they would be paying a little portion of the teacher’s salary. This was one of the reasons why the new contract was able to offer a good salary hike to all the teachers of Washington State.

However, the new contract also offers very good training facilities to the teachers. It is extremely important that the teachers get good training from experts. There are times when a teacher might have all the knowledge but might not have the desired skills to pass on the knowledge to their students. Hence, a good training session would do a whole lot of good to the teachers.

The new contract definitely seems to be good for both the teachers as well as the students.
