Introduction


This class is a four week class that follows the introductory subject 11.203 Microeconomics for Planners. 11.202 Planning Economics this year will examine three overlapping subjects:

  • Public Good and Externalities (with applications to environmental and urban planning)
  • Location Theory and the Economic Rationale of Cities
  • Investment Theory and Housing Finance

In each topic, we will cover both the underlying theory and policy applications of particular relevance to planners.  Brief notes are provided in the lecture notes section.
