I know of 3 types. F-1, M-1 and J-1.
F-1 is the general academic studies
M-1 is for nonacademic or vocational studies
J-1 is appropriate for academic studies as an exchange visitor

So does this mean a J-1 is only for a short amount of time, like one month visa?

I know if you hold a F-1, you can only find a job at the school you currently enrolled in. Does that apply to M-1 and J-1 as well?
