  • Part-time Animal Technician 17-Apr-2025 Part-time Animal Technician Harvard Medical School 68177BR Job Summary The Animal Technician will assist all laboratory researchers by maintaining established mouse colonies, keeping records of mouse availability, and collecting and sending biopsies for phenotyping/genotyping. Position Description This position involves transgenic mouse strain maintenance, including weaning/separating mice, monitoring of breeding pair productivity and litter production, and maintaining records of mouse strain productivity. The technician will help maintain breeders and progeny at appropriate levels with guidance from the supervisor and faculty member. The technician will perform weekly tail biopsies, ear tagging, and blood sample collections. The individual also be responsible for sending samples to a vendor for genotyping. Basic Qualifications Six months to one or more years of experience in animal care or equivalent preferably in a research setting. Additional Qualifications and Skills Knowledge of mouse colony management, blood phenotyping, and use of Transnetyx, . Additional Information Please note this is a part-time, 17.5 hours (.5 FTE) per week position. This is a term position with an end date of May 29, 2026, with the possibility of extension, contingent upon work performance and continued funding to support the position.
