  • Few experiences in students' post-secondary career have as much potential for influencing their development as does academic advising. (NACADA, Statement of Core Values of Academic Advising)

Every student is assigned an Academic Advisor. Students who have declared their major field of study are assigned an advisor who is a member of the faculty in the department of the student's major. Undeclared students are assigned to a member of the faculty or professional staff who will assist the student in planning courses, deciding upon a major, and moving toward declaring a major. Students are encouraged to meet with their advisors as frequently as necessary. (N.B., at a minimum, they must meet with their advisor during the Advisor Consultation week, prior to pre-registration for the following term.)

For further information regarding the Advisement Program or Advisors, contact Scott Mattingly, Director of Academic Advising, at: scott.mattingly@desales.edu
