Welcome to EIU Student Reading Council .... a student organization for pre-service teachers, developed by future teachers for future teachers at Eastern Illinois University.
Our number one goal at SRC is to give you the foundation that will one day motivate you to become involved in the many professional organizations that exist for teachers in the workplace today. At each meeting we try to provide you with valid experiences related to teaching language arts, such as: author studies; theme studies; conversations with author's themselves, and much more! There are also meetings of the East Central EIU Reading Council (our parent organization) which you can attend for a meeting credit from SRC. This gives you actual experience as to what local councils of professional organizations are actually like. Read our brochure to learn more about East Central-EIU Reading Council and the events planned for the school year. Look for the current EIU Reading Council Newsletter mailed to members. You can also learn more on the East Central EIU Reading Council fan page on Facebook.
With that in mind, take some time to explore our web site. You will find information about joining the SRC, contacting SRC officers, checking the calendar for upcoming events, and exploring helpful links. Remember, we're always up for answering any questions you might have.....so don't hesitate to contact us.
*Congratulations to the winners of the Book Fair Drawing! These people are Justin Gross, Susan Wilson, and Stacey Pinkstaff! Contact Mrs. Denise Reid to recieve your free book if you haven't done so yet!*
