  • The purpose of the Student Health Center (SHC) is to foster and maintain the health of Fairfield University students by preventive measures, education, and treatment of illnesses and injuries.


    About the Health Center
    The staff in the Student Health Center is available to talk with students seeking medical information as well as matters pertaining to healthy habits, which allows for a greater understanding of themselves from a holistic perspective.

    The SHC is located at the back of Dolan Hall. To contact the Health Center call (203) 254-4000 ext. 2241

    Health care is provided by a staff of physicians, nurse practitioners, and registered nurses.

    No student can receive any medical treatment at the SHC unless a Medical Report Form has been received and is on file at the Center.

    Tuberculosis Exposure Announcement 4/19/10

    TB Contact Testing Plan - Student Health Center
    During the week of April 26, the Student Health Center will be contacting members of the Fairfield University community who have been identified as having potential for exposure to Tuberculosis. These contacts will be required to have a test for such exposure. Testing will be held on Monday, May 3 and Tuesday, May 4 in the Student Health Center. Times are to be announced. The simple skin test, called a PPD, takes only a few minutes, however the site must be checked by the Health Center staff for a reaction after 48 hours. The staff will be available on Wednesday, May 5 and Thursday, May 7 to evaluate the skin tests. Any person who has previously had a positive PPD will be tested using a blood test. Testing may be performed by a private healthcare provider. Forms to document testing not performed in the Health Center will be available.
