When Evangel University was founded, leaders demonstrated their commitment to academic achievement by building the Klaude Kendrick Library as the first permanent structure on campus. The building was completed in 1963. This commitment to research and scholarship has remained a priority for the library as we continually seek to improve library services and adopt electronic and technological resources.
As an Evangel student, you will have access to a wide variety of innovative library and media services as well as assistance from a committed staff of trained library professionals who are committed to your academic success.
The library staff is led by Director Woodvall Moore, who has served in that capacity since 1976. In 2009, the Association of Christian Librarians honored Moore with the prestigious Emily Russel Award (an award which has only been given 15 times in the last 25 years), in recognition of his professional achievements. “The prestigious Emily Russel award expresses our respect and appreciation to Woodie for his service to the Kingdom, to librarianship, and to the Association of Christian Librarians,” said Steven Preston, president of ACL from 2000-2004.
As director of library and media services, Moore is responsible for oversight of the library, instructional resource center, and music library. He holds a B.S. from Southern Bible College (now Messenger College) and a Master of Library Science from the University of Kentucky.
