  • The seemingly little everyday demands and conflict that exist in life often manifest themselves in physical symptoms. Common situations like difficult classes, exams, conflict with roommates or friends, etc. all cause emotional strain and over the long run cause physiological damage. Managing stress is an important tool in our overall health and well-being. HeartMath operates on the same notion as biofeedback, or the ability to influence and take control over some of the automatic functions of our bodies. HeartMath focuses on heart coherence. What is heart coherence? Your heart has a natural rhythm. When you are stressed out or emotionally strained, the natural rhythm of your heart becomes out of sync. Coherence is the syncronization of heart rhythm. Coherence creates a positive chain of events within the entire body that is both immediate and long lasting, producing a sense of relaxation and focus.
