  • How does one measure the prosperity of a state or rather, that of a nation? A nation is built up of people. Of people the nation cares about and a nation, the people care about. And what makes the people of the nation aware of their responsibilities and duties? Education is the simple yet prompt answer to this.

Education as we know is a fundamental right bestowed upon each one of us. It is the key to our success and it is education that opens the doors to new horizons and gives us a new a perspective in life. And on the path of education, we prefer having teachers, mentors and other school authorities who are very well education. But this unfortunately the state of California is falling short of educated workforce.

It is true that a school should have well-trained teachers and other staff members. This is because then they can impart better knowledge to their students. But training can be expensive. In fact many states have huge budgets that run into millions of dollars when it comes to offering training to the teaching staff members belonging to the state.

Most states take pride in doing so. But even though the state of California is following suit, there are not good enough candidates. But the people believe that the government should invest a lot in higher education. Education, which is higher education, is very expensive these days. Hence, many students do not go in for them in the first place. And because not many students opt for higher education, the number of well-education people in California is dropping by the year. This is soon becoming a topic of major concern.

This is because the older teachers at school will retire after a point of time and new teachers would be required to step in. with a shortage of educated workforce, where will the teachers come from? In the past year, a research in the state of California stated that they fell short of one million educated workforces already. An educated workforce is required not only in schools and colleges but also in other work domains.

A nation or a country or even a state can only progress if it is run by the right people and the right people are the educated people of the state. The economy of the state will suffer as well. Everything is connected to better education. Children’s progress and development, the progress of the nation and state etc, depend upon the right educational values.

The universities in California are facing 20 percent cuts in the number of students applying each year as well.

So what is going to happen next? Well, firstly the government and the education sector authorities need to chart out the next important step. Although the numbers might not seem alarmingly right now, they will be in the coming years. If the educated work force is going down in numbers, it will be difficult for them to make it up and increase the numbers in the coming years. This is because the generation younger to the current generation will not be able to jump the gap created today.
