  • Imagine a school without good teachers? It would be a disaster for sure. But there is tension in the air where school teachers are concerned currently. Apparently scores of teachers are going to be asked to leave because the schools across the nation will not able to afford them anymore.

But the Congress is trying real hard that this situation might be turned around in the favour of the teachers. But raising a lot of money for the teachers’ sake is turning out to be a difficult job. Many call it the impending education catastrophe. This is because if a lot of money is being used to get the teachers out of the mess, the next elections could be really costly.

Members of the White House are trying to raise $23 billion for educational aid for the schools across the nation. With this money, most schools would be able to retain their teachers. If this comes through then thousands of teachers in Georgia will be able to go to work without any fear of losing their jobs. Laying off of teachers has hit the schools the hardest. It is worst than what it was during the great depression of the 1930s.

The state of Georgia has been facing this problem since a long time now. And now the former governor who will be contesting the coming elections has vowed to help these teachers out.
With the cuts in educational funds, a lot of schools in Georgia are facing additional problems as well. The whole education system in Georgia was to go through a reform which would introduce smaller class sizes.

Classes till the 3rd grade would have only 23 children while higher classes from 4th to 8th grade would have a maximum of 28 children. But because of the lack of funds, the schools are now allowing large classes. This is eventually a bad thing as this means now every child will get lesser attention as the teachers have to so many kids to look after.

Although the political members are trying to raise the funds, the Democrats oppose it as there is a major lack of funds. Their spokesperson stated that it was the schools that were at fault and suffering as in the past they have hired too many non teaching staff members and that is unsustainable.

People on the other hand are blaming the Congress entirely as they feel their system is too stringent to allow teachers to stay. Parents fear that the standard of education will go down further as American students are already lack education wise than students in various other nations. Plus so many foreign students come in each year that the American students lose out in front of them.

If this continues to happen, then the economy of America will also suffer greatly in the coming years. Teachers are the first step towards a better future. They are the ones who impart the value of knowledge to the young minds. Without good teachers, the future is bound to be bleak.
