				<description>
				Teachers and students of Sandy Hook have started with their routine life all over again. However, it is not difficult to assume that none of them are over the tragic incident yet. It will surely take them a long time before they come to terms with life again.

Even while these students and teachers are trying to grapple with the situation, people in our country are having a hot debate. While many are in favor of teachers carrying guns to schools and colleges, some administrators feel that educational institutes are not places where guns and other kinds of weapons should be allowed.

After the Sandy Hook episode, a number of people, including some of the top educational administrators had demanded that the teachers should be allowed to carry weapons with them. The basic logic behind such a move is that it will reduce the number of school and college shootouts and it will also reduce the number of casualties.

This news spread like wildfire across the country and a majority of people seem to give this idea thumbs up. Infact, a small group of teachers in Utah have gone one step ahead to receive professional gun training as well, showing that this move has been taken seriously by a number of universities and schools. Having said this, there are a few people who are worried if this move will actually be helpful in reducing public shootouts or only help make matters worse.

Teachers are not meant to be carrying guns with them. They are certainly not used to them. Hence, there is every chance that some of them may not always be aware as to where they have kept their weapons. In a situation where the government is facing a major problem as far as weapons being available to teens easily, the last thing our country needs at the moment is a student sneaking out the weapon from a teacher's bag and experimenting with it.

People who are opposing the idea of teachers carrying guns are in favor of more security in and around educational institutes. Security guards are very much aware of the potential threats associated with allowing teachers to carry guns. Guards know exactly how to use guns. They are professionally trained for the purpose of using weapons and hence it makes more sense to have more number of security officials instead of allowing teachers to carry guns.

Another point of discussion is the alertness of teachers. Their primary job is to step into classrooms and teach. By giving them the responsibility of carrying guns they would often be under the fear of being attacked and having to retaliate. In such a situation, there is every chance that they might not be able to focus on their prime responsibilities.

Well, no matter what steps are taken to make educational institutes more secure, the ultimate challenge for the government is to make sure that these places are not attacked anymore.
