  • INTRODUCTION/POSITION: The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry (, in the College of Arts and Sciences, seeks multiple tenure-track assistant faculty in the areas of chemistry or biochemistry who will establish an externally funded and highly visible research program with a biomedical emphasis.     QUALIFICATIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: We are seeking exceptional candidates in the area of chemistry or biochemistry who will establish an externally funded and highly visible research program with a biomedical emphasis. Faculty research interests should synergize with an NIH-funded Center of Biomedical Research Excellence focused on the Discovery of Chemical Probes and Therapeutic Leads ( Applicants with diverse research interests will be considered including those working in the broadly defined areas of chemical biology, chemical synthesis, medicinal chemistry, and molecular and cellular imaging. Ideal applicants will also synergize with our center’s current faculty who span the areas of chemical biology, organic synthesis, glycobiology, inorganic chemistry, biochemistry, structural biology, and computation. Successful candidates will have demonstrated excellence in research and will possess a Ph.D. in chemistry, biochemistry or a related field. Faculty will contribute to teaching at the graduate and undergraduate levels. Faculty will be provided with a competitive, ‘hard-funded’ salary and start-up package.

    DEPARTMENT OF CHEMISTRY AND BIOCHEMISTRY AT UD: The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Delaware ( is within the College of Arts and Sciences and serves as home for approximately 30 research faculty, nearly 200 PhD candidates, dozens of undergraduate researchers, and approximately 250 undergraduate majors. Upon joining the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, the successful candidate will work among a dynamic faculty to deepen our fundamental understanding of natural phenomena and address critical challenges facing our society. The research environment is strengthened by NIH-funded INBRE and Center for Translational Research Awards, an NIH Chemistry-Biology Interface T32 training grant, and an NSF-funded MRSEC center. The University offers state-of-the-art core facilities in NMR, mass spectrometry, proteomics, bioimaging, X-ray crystallography, custom chemical synthesis, genomics, bioinformatics, nanofabrication, and materials characterization (
