    Seeking self-motivated individual to provide program support for recruiting, marketing, admissions, advising, evaluation, and other support related to academic programs (undergraduate and graduate) in Virginia Tech’s Department of Agricultural, Leadership, and Community Education. Academic Advisors are expected to possess extensive knowledge about academic programs, policies, procedures, and student support services within the scope of their responsibilities.

    Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
    • Assist the department’s Undergraduate and Graduate Directors with academic program management such as data tracking, reports, class planning, and general institutional record keeping.
    • Maintain program's admission and enrollment tracking, including assistance with Food and Food and Agricultural Education Information System (FAEIS) Survey preparation, as well as the entrance and exit survey data for enrolled students.
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for admissions/applicant inquiries, including representing the department at recruiting events and co-leading the department’s ambassador program.
    • Monitor the complete admissions life-cycle for applications, including tracking admissions data on application materials received, responding to prospective inquires, and reaching out to applicants for missing materials.
    • Distribute communication content (print and digital) to prospective and current students, and maintaining systems related to that distribution (e.g., student listservs).
    • Provide support to the First Year Experience and Senior Seminar courses as a component of academic advising.
    • Fulfill other duties as assigned.

    Required Qualifications

    Master's degree in a relevant field (agricultural education, agricultural communications, agricultural science, extension, education, etc.) or advanced training and work experience;
    Program support experience in an academic or professional office environment; Demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines; Proficiency with Microsoft Office Excel and Word; Exceptional interpersonal and excellent communication skills with the ability to work well in a team and with the public.

    Preferred Qualifications

    Experience in a higher education and admissions environment; Proficiency with SLATE Customer Relationship Management (CRM) or similar program; Working knowledge of university academic, fiscal and operational policies and procedures; Experience in handling student records in student database such as Banner and/or Navigate; Experience working with an online academic program of study.
