    We are seeking a highly motivated Lab Research Assistant to join our research of complex social behaviors of fish models using genetic tools.

    Responsibilities:
    We are seeking a Lab Research Assistant to help manage the generation of CRISPR mutants. Key responsibilities include performing CRISPR injections in fish embryos, and assisting with the rearing and breeding of new cichlid and killfish lines.

    The Lab Research Assistant will help carryout molecular biology experiments such as PCR for genotyping and quantitative PCR to measure gene expression.

    The Lab Research Assistant will contribute to the department's mission by advancing high-quality research through their own efforts and by supporting the broader research team. Additionally, the Lab Research Assistant will play a role in mentoring undergraduate students involved in research, furthering the department's educational goals.

    Required Minimum Qualifications:
    Associates degree preferably in a biological or chemical science.
    Ability to work independently and be willing to work as a member of a team of graduate student, post-doctoral, and faculty researchers.
    Strong organizational and record-keeping skills.
    Preferred Qualifications:
    Bachelor's degree in Biology or related field (Strongly preferred).
    Experience working with animal models, bonus for prior fish work or animal husbandry.
    Advanced neuroscience, genetics, and/or molecular biology work
    Ability to manage overlapping projects and deadlines effectively
    Ability to work under deadlines with general guidance
    Excellent organizational skills and demonstrated ability to accurately complete detailed work
    Experience with immunohistochemistry, in situ hybridization, molecular cloning, coding languages are all major plusses.
    Experience with molecular biology techniques - such as DNS/RNA extraction, gel electrophoresis, genotyping, or quantitative PCR.
