  • 1980 - First Autonomous Elections in the Basque Country and in Cataluña; Constitutional Court Begins to Function
  • 1981 - Military Coup Fails
    • Suárez Resigns, King asks Calvo Sotelo to take over law allowing for divorce is passed; Spain joins NATO
