Schedule
Lectures: Three sessions / week for 1 hour / session
Recitations: Two sessions / week for 1 hour / session
Textbook
Apostol. Calculus. Vol. 1. 2nd ed. 1967. (Vol. 2 will be needed for those who wish to continue on to 18.024).

The work for this subject will consist of the following:

  1. Three lectures and two recitations per week; attendance is essential.
  2. Homework assignments accompanying each lecture, discussed at recitations.
  3. Weekly problem sets to be handed in.
  4. Two quizzes during the term.
  5. Comprehensive 3-hour final exam.

The final grade will be based on the following:

  1. Final exam 40%
  2. Two quizzes @ 20% each = 40%
  3. Problem sets 10%
  4. Recitation participation 10%
Notes
  1. Students who enroll in this class are expected to have had a year of calculus previously.
  2. The "Calculus with Theory" sequence, 18.014 + 18.024, includes all of the content in the regular "Calculus" sequence, 18.01 + 18.02, and more.
  3. Students will not be permitted to take 18.024 without taking 18.014 first.
